Do you need a relay for a water pump?
As we explain below, all well pump systems require a pressure control switch to sense the water pressure and turn the pump on and off as needed. But when a higher horsepower submersible pump is used, a separate pump relay (red arrow in photo below right) is used to actually control turning the pump on and off.
Where is the fuse on the water pump?
1. Either right at the water pump, OR 2. In the house fuse panel. We can not tell you exactly where the house fuse panel is, as it can be mounted anywhere inside the coach. With thousands of makes and models of RV out there, it is impossible for us to know the exact location of every single part.
How can I check if my water pump is working?
Check the water pump shaft and pulley for signs of damage or movement. On vehicle models where a serpentine, drive or timing belt runs the water pump, you may need to remove the belt to manually check the water pump pulley. Wiggle your pump pulley with your hand. If you notice damage or movement, replace the water pump. Rotate the pulley by hand.
How do you test a well well pump?
Set the gate valve on the discharge to be open one-third of the way. Then, start the pump and let the water run out until it is clear and free of dirt or sand. You can test this by filling up a clear cup with the water and looking for solids.

When you don’t see an ordinary wall switch to turn off the water pump you’re probably safer going to the electrical panel where you can turn off power to the water pump by switching off the appropriate circuit breaker or pulling the appropriate fuse.

Why does my well pump keep blowing fuse?
Most likely the water Pump or its control or wiring is shorted or motor is failing and drawing high current. Leave electrical power off on the tripping circuit and call a licensed electrician for diagnostic help and repair. The short could be in the motor, the pump control switch, or in damaged wires anywhere between house and your well pump motor.
