While vacationing in the mountains of Santa Cruz, Garcia was forced to stabilize the wood while his older brother was cutting it when he stuck his finger in the path of a fallen ax. Garcia took him more than fifty kilometers from the nearest area when his mother wrapped her hands in a towel.
