Yeah a stock 454 won’t kill a stock 700r4 unless you’re planning on towing with it or hot rodding the 454 some day. Once you upgrade something though you’ll have a hard time with the weak parts like planetary, power band, output shaft. All of those should be upgraded if towing or building the engine are in your future.

One needs to remover the Cap and the rotor to get a good look at at things, just be real careful not to pull off any of the plug wires if your not real familiar with the firing order of the cap connections.
