Why does my GFCI trip when I plug in my trailer?
After batteries were nearly full I unplugged it. Now two weeks later, if I plug it in using the EXACT same set up just to charge the onboard batteries- it instantly trips the gfci on the house. Tried a different one on a different gfci circuit and same result. No switches, lights, or appliances are on.

The sensor circuitry in the downstream RV GFI (even without anything plugged into it) is causing the pedestal GFI to think it (the pedestal GFI) is sensing a ground fault leakage in what is plugged into it (in this case the RV with it’s own GFI circuitry), and it is instant trip.

Where are the GFCI outlets on a RV?
Check your RV manual to determine which outlets are protected by the GFCI. Some R.V.’s have one GFCI receptacle that also protects up to 5 receptacles fed downstream of the actual GFCI outlet connected to the ‘load’ terminals. In my new truck camper, the GFCI in the kitchen feeds the bathroom, and the outside receptacle.
